Our Ecology wines’ logo incorporates the Khoisan symbols of Earth, Wind and Water as testimony of PaardenKloof’s commitment to conservation. All our wines carry a Certified Integrity & Sustainability Seal and our World Wildlife Championship Accreditation speaks to our nature conservation efforts and our regenerative farming practices. The Ecology range of wines are fynbos-driven, with tropical and floral notes. A light oaking regime ensures soft tannins and juicy, fruit-forward profiles. The wines are easy drinking and pair well with favourite South African dishes.
PaardenKloof’s premium range of wines are handcrafted to showcase terroir-expressive wines that capture the natural elements of our unique hidden valley and our maritime region. From the freshness and crispness of the Sauvignon Blancs, the elegance of our Pinots Noirs, to the rich, complex and classic styles of our big reds, these wines set a benchmark for Walker Bay cool climate wines.
They are registered 100% Single Varietal, single vineyard wines and come from vineyard blocks that are limited to five hectares in size.
We feature the artwork of Peter Clarke, one of the great black artists of our country, on the back label.
Ataqua, the name given to PaardenKloof ’s Reserve Range, embodies our farms rich Khoisan history. Ataqua is the collective name for indigenous Khoisan and Khoi-Khoi tribes that lived between the Cape of Good Hope and Knysna for thousands of years before the Dutch arrived on our shores. Several important tribes lived on our surrounding mountains, called AtaquasKloof. We choose the best barrels from our already refined winemaking styles to honour these communities and their wisdoms. They understood our flora, fauna and the benefits of the over 2600 plant species found in our area better than any modern society can claim to understand.
These wines are fruit forward, perfectly oaked French oak barrels, complex, elegant and limited in quantity.
